Setting Photoshop CS3 Unit of Measurement

When you first launch Photoshop CS3 after installing it, the default unit of measurement is in inches. But as web designers working with images on the monitor screen, we do not work with inches. We work with pixels. In this tutorial, we will show you how to set your Photoshop to be in pixel units.

If you have already altered your Photoshop settings and want to revert back to the factory settings in order to follow this tutorial, you can do so by following the steps linked here.

1. You can see that inches is the current unit when you do "File -> New" to create a new document.

2. Click OK to the dialog.

3. Now do "View -> Rulers" in your new document. And you see that the horizontal and vertical rulers are in inches.

4. Now to change Photoshop's unit to pixels, right-click on the ruler and select Pixels so that it is checkmarked.
