Chris Anderson, editor of Wired magazine, write about an economic trend known as "the long tail" -- a term that he coined.
This effect is refers to the tail end of the demand curve that is populated by not the "major hits" or "major player", but the "niches".. As the cost of distribution and publication decreases with the infinite "shelves space" of the virtual worlds, the niches becomes a more visible part of the marketplace.
