Content Editors for Websites

There are content editors that are designed for websites running content management systems such as Joomla and Drupal which enables site owners to edit their site content using an WYSIWYG-type editor. These WYSIWYG ("What You See Is What You Get") has toolbar icons in the content editor for them to bold, italicize, and format their text without needing to know HTML.

Although many content management systems come with their own content editor built in. Some of them are lacking and sometime one might want to replace them with another content editor (which is possible). Below are some content editors that are out there ...

  • Cute Editor for PHP and for Joomla -- commercial product
  • TinyMCE -- open source content editor
  • CKEditor.com -- both open source and commercial license available. Has file upload integration and insertion of Flash.
  • NiceEdit.com -- this is more of an inline WYSIWYG editor that converts your textarea on your page into Content Editor textboxes rather than backend content editor for CMS.
  • JCE - Joomla Content Editor
  • Xinha - online HTML editor
