Small Business, Big Life: Five Steps to Creating a Great Life with Your Own Small Business

Having helped out with his father's small business as well as having created two businesses of his own and advising countless of his small business owner clients, author Louis Barajas certainly knows the experiences of a small business owner. What he writes about the small business owner rings true for many people. For example, he says (page 24): "At the beginning of building their business, most owners usually make less money than their employees. In fact, if you take the total number of hours an owner works and divide that by the paycheck he or she brings home, some new business owners earn less than minimum wage."
He also writes (page 26): "Most small business owners spend less time with their families. When was the last time you met an entrepreneur who was working fewer then forty hours a week?"
But Barajas says there can be a better way: (page 11) "the true purpose of a business should be to give you not just more money but more life." And he shows how in this book. Not by showing you the technical details of writing a business plan, but by having the right mind-set and the psychology to succeed.
