Signing Up For Ebay1. Go to http://www.ebay.com and click register link. 2. It will ask for your name, address, phone number, email, and such. You can enter your real name here, since this will not be shown when you perform transactions on eBay. 3. Then you will have a chance to create an user id and password that is used when performing eBay actions. 4. You will also be ask to enter your credit card number, expiration date, and a three digit code on the back of the card. Don't worry, you will not be charged. This is used only to verify your identity. 5. At the end of the process, eBay will send you an email. You should go and check your email right away. You need to click on the link in the email in order to complete the registration. This is how they verify the correctness of your email. If you don't see your email, check your spam folder. Make sure the email was sent at the same time as your registration and that inside the email it addresses you by both your real name as well as by your user id. This ensure that this is an real eBay email and not a fradulent one. See tutorial on how to detect fradulent emails. 6. Once you click on the link in the email, it will take you to an eBay page that will address you by your user id. It will say "Congratulations". That means that your registration was successfully completed. 7. Remember to click the Sign Out link whenever you are done with ebay actions. 8. The next time you login, enter your user id (not your email nor your real name) and then your password. 9. PayPal is the recommended method of payment on eBay. Although PayPal is an eBay company, the two accounts are different. And if you want to use PayPal, you would need to create a PayPal account as well. See previous lessons on PayPal.
