Review and Revise Your eBay ListingAfter submitting my listing in the last lesson, I receive a confirmation email. After reviewing the listing, I realize that I make an error in my pricing stategy. The insertion fee that you have to pay is based on the price of the item. The price being either the starting price (if you don't have a reserver price), or the reserve price (if you have one). At the time of this writing, the insertion fee is based on a tier-structure where if the price is $25 it is $1.20. If the price is $24.99, the insertion fee is only $0.60. I should have put a reserve price of $24.99 instead of $25.00. Revising ListingNo problem, eBay lets you revise your listing -- sometimes. One caveat is that if the auction has progress too far into the process, eBay may not allow to you make changes. 1. Go into My eBay and click the Selling link to find the item that you are selling. 2. Then click the drop-down arrow of the item listing and select Revise. 3. I then click the Edit Picture and Detail link, changed the reserve price to $24.99 and save changes. 5. Then make sure you click "Submit Revisions". By doing that, I see that eBay gave me back $0.60 because the insertion fee is lower for a reserve price of $24.99. eBay's Personal RecommendationseBay sometimes gives "personal recommendations" base on its analysis of your listing. For my item, it is suggesting that I lower my reserve price. Since I really just want to sell this product, I decided to revise my listing and lower the reserve price yet again. Learn more about lowering the reserve price here. I decided to lower my reserve price to $9.99. See next lesson where we check the status of our item. |
