After installing ZenCart, make sure you heed the security recommendations, delete the zc_install directory, and rename the admin directory as described linked here.

As mentioned in this security forum thread, remove the following directories and files so that no version information is exposed to hackers....
/docs
/extras
/zc_install
/install.txt

If you do not need to support downloadable products or music-media products, you can also remove these folders:
/download
/media
/pub

But you will need to go to Admin->Configuration->Attribute Settings->Enable Downloads, and set it to False to turn off the warning message about the missing download folder.

Also look for security alerts and patches in the announcement forum for any software updates that had occurred after you had downloaded your version. 

Sometimes there are minor updates in the forums that are not in the official annoucement. I usually like to perform the modifications to the Local Tax Mod and the code change in the newsletter module.
