This tutorial follows the basic tutorial on gift certificates (if you have never used gift certificates, read this tutorial first). In the previous example, we have only configured gift certificates of fixed amounts. In this tutorial, we will set up a gift certificate where customer can choose various amounts from a drop list as shown here as an example...

1. First, enable gift certificate feature as described in previous tutorial.
2. Set up gift certificate product similar to before, except this time set price to zero and "priced by attribute" set to Yes.

Because price is set to zero, right after you click "Preview" and "Update" to save the product, you need to disable the product by clicking the status box to make it red...

3. Now go to "Catalog -> Option Name Manager" and create a new dropdown option called "Amount"...

4. Now go to "Catalog -> Option Value Manager" and create values of $5, $10, and $15 for the "Amount" ...

Note the sort order is set in order of increasing amounts.
5. Now go to "Catalog -> Products Price Manager", select the gift certificate product and click "display" and then click "Attribute Controller". Set up the three values of $5, $10, and $15 as shown...

6. Click the "Update Sort" button to put the droplist values in their specified sort order.

7. Enable the gift certificate product ...

8. Now customer can select the gift certificate value from the drop list ...
