Emailing Notifications to All Your Customers in ZenCart

If you want to send out an email notification to all your customers, you can do so by logging into the admin interface and going to "Tools -> Send Email".

zencart send email

For the Customer field, you should select "Administrator" to perform a test mail to yourself first. And then select "All Customers" if you are ready to send to all customers. When sending to all customers, ZenCart will send the emails individually so other email addresses are not disclosed to other customers.

Enter your subject text for your email.

Enter the Rich Text Message

Set the Text Editor to HTMLarea and then you can use the Rich Text Editor to write your message.

You do not need a greeting in the Rich Text Message, Zencart will automatically supply that for you. This is what the HTML email will look like ...

Note that Zencart automatically adds the copyright and disclaimer text.

Enter the Text-Only Message

Enter the same message into the "Text-Only Message" field. For the text-only message.

You may want to put in a greeting like "Dear Valued Customer". Since this time, Zencart will not supply the customer name for you. Also we recommend putting a series of dashes at the end of the Text-Only message in order to separate your message from the footer disclaimer text that ZenCart will add. This is what the text-only email would look like.

Your customer will get one or the other depending on whether they had selected HTML or Text emails when they created their customer account.

Ready to Send

To send the messages, click Preview button. And then on the next page, click the Send button.

Logo in HTML Email

See this "logo" that is present on the HTML email...

As is with most email clients, images in emails are not downloaded by default. That is why you only see the "alt attribute" text associated with the image. In this case, it shows the word "logo". If the user tells email client to download the image, then the user will see the ZenCart logo. If you want the word "logo" to say your store's name instead or to put your own store logo in place of the ZenCart logo, you can tell your web developer to change that in the email templates.

Changing Template

In addition, if you want to change that disclaimer text or the email template, ask your web developer to change it.

The disclaimer text is defined in ...
catalog/admin/includes/languages/english/email_extra.php.
