Creating a New Style

Most likely you will want to customize your style to match the look-and-feel of your website instead of using the subSilver default style. Let's call our new style "siteScheme".

1. Duplicate the subSilver folder found in the templates directory. Give the duplicated folder the name siteScheme -- the same name as you new style name.

2. Go into the new style folder siteScheme and rename the subSilver.cfg and subSilver.css to siteScheme.cfg and siteScheme.css.

3. Open the theme_info.cfg file found inside the siteScheme folder. Replace all instances of subSilver with siteScheme.

4. Do a global search in the siteScheme folder for url paths containing subSilver and replace them with siteScheme.

5. Upload the siteScheme folder to your webhost.

6. In the Admin Control Panel, go to Style Admin -> Add

You should see the new style siteScheme listed. Click Install.

6. Still in the Control Panel, go to General Admin -> Configuration and select siteScheme as the default style.

You now have gotten your new siteScheme style to be your default style. Any future registered user will have siteScheme as their style. The previously registered members will still maintain their old subSilver style. If you want to convert these members, see future lesson here.
