Do Not Try to Trick Search EnginesIn earlier lesson, you learned of the AdSense policies. Now you will learn about Google's .Webmaster's Guidelines in general. These guidelines are something that webmasters are urged to read in its entirety. But some noteworthy points found in the guidelines are ... - No hidden text or links. For example, don't have the text color be the same as the background color such that you try to get the search engines to see the text instead of the users. I have already mentioned in an earlier lesson about not doing keyword spamming. - No sneaky tactics. I won't get into these here. You know if you are doing it. - Don't duplicate content. Google traverses the whole web. So it will know when it sees duplicated content. There are such algorithms and software that can check these things. For example, copyscape.com is one. To what extent, if any, that you will be penalized for having duplicate content is unknown. But personally, I do not let other sites use my content. And if I am submitting an article for distribution or write an article for another site, I don't put the same article on my own site. Don't Get Banned From GoogleNot following these guidelines may get you banned from Google search engine index such that you site is no longer showing up in the search results. To test this, you should type... site:yourdomain.com into the Google search field and it should bring up a result of your site. If this query does not bring up your site, it can mean that 1) the Google servers are having some fluctuations (which you hope is the case), or 2) that Google has banned your site from its index (which you hope is not the case.) You should try the query again on a different day to ensure that it is not a server problem. NextIn the next lesson, you will learn that excessive popup ads is also to be avoided..
