Granting FTP Access to Your Yahoo StoreIf you are having a contractor building your Yahoo store, you will need to provide him/her with FTP access to your Yahoo webhosting. However, you don't want to give the contractor full privilege to your Yahoo account. So instead of giving the contractor your Yahoo ID and password, you can setup a separate FTP account with a separate login and password that you can hand over to the contractor. To do this, follow these steps... 1. Log in to http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/ 2. Click on the link that says "Web Hosting Control Panel". 3. In the Web Hosting Control Panel page, there should be a "Manage" tab. Click on that. 4. Under the panel "Tools for Managing Your Site", click on the link "Password Manager". 5. Under the "Create User Account" panel, there will be field where you can enter an "Username" and "Password". For the username, enter an arbitrary username that you want to give to your contractor. An example username would be "contractor1" (without the domain name attached to the username). 6. Then come up with a password for the contractor. You will need to enter the password twice. 7. Click the Add User button. 8. You should now see "contractor1" as listed under the Manage User Accounts panel. You will see a link that says "Enable FTP access". Click on that link to grant FTP access. By default this should give them access to the entire site (which is fine). There you will also see a link that says "Delete user". That is the link to click when the contractor has finished his/her job and you want to remove access. 7. Now you tell the contractor that he/she has FTP access to server "ftp.yourdomain.com" (where yourdomain is your actual domain name of your site). Tell him/her to login with the username "[email protected]" (where yourdomain is your actual domain name). Note here that they will need to enter the fully qualified username with the "at" symbol and domain name. And then give him/her the password that you have choosen. In addition to FTP access, the contractor will also need access to your Store Control Panel. Learn to grant this access in the next lesson. Next Lesson:
