Granting Contractor Access to Yahoo Store Control Panel

If you are having a contractor building your Yahoo store, they will need access to your Yahoo Store Control Panel. So instead of giving the contractor your Yahoo ID and password, you can grant them limited access to your Yahoo account -- just enough to control the store but not see your billing nor have access to your Yahoo email acccounts.

To do this, follow these steps...

1. Log in to http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/

2. Click on the link that says "Store Control Panel".

3. Under "Site Settings", click on the link that says "Access".

4. On this "Access" page, you will find a line that says "Add New Member". You enter the contractor's Yahoo ID and set his/her premissions to be "Only Edit Contents and See Stats". Click "Add". Now that person with that Yahoo ID can login at http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/ and access your store. But they would not have access to other areas such as your email, domain, etc.

You do not need to give the person a password, because he/she will use his own password associated with his/her Yahoo ID.

5. If you want to remove access, go back to the "Access" page (Store Control Panel -> Site Settings -> Access). You should see a "Delete" link in the row next to the Yahoo ID that you want access removed. Click the "Delete" link to remove access.

Note:

In addition to having Store Control Panel access, the contractor working on your store will also need FTP access. Learn how to set that up in the lesson here.
